Main Purpose of Job

To perform a wide variety of warehouse duties in order to sufficiently supply and equip the Maryland Department of State Police and its political subdivision with the appropriate supplies and equipment that are necessary to accomplish its mission. This warehouse has approximately 1800 commodities valued at approximately 5 million dollars.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Fill requisition orders for over 1800 commodities valued at, in total, approximately 5 million dollars;
  • Follow proper warehouse and filing procedures;
  • Comparing packing slips with purchase orders;
  • Utilizing space for storage;
  • Reviewing requisitions for accuracy;
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies;
  • Receive goods and complete FMIS entries for stock and special orders;
  • Package and label special orders for pickup and ensure requisition is clearly signed by receiving party;
  • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience in receiving, storing and issuing supplies, materials or equipment in a storeroom, warehouse or other supply storage facility.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as described above on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics or unit supply field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  1. Do you have experience in receiving and processing requisitions for the distribution of supplies?
  2. Do you have experience in the development of storage methods pertaining to the allocation and arrangement of materials and supplies?

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position.
