POSITION DUTIES
· The position performs the intake of
discrimination complaints by thoroughly screening complainants and assists with
preparation of relevant documentation for preliminary investigation by the EEO
Investigator, Deputy Director, and Director. Compiling and reviewing
correspondence, generating exhibits and files, and supporting documentation of
the complaint; updating case ledger; and explain applicable laws and
regulations to advise complainants and respondents of their rights, legal
requirements and responsibilities – daily basis.
· Serves as the Custodian of Record by
overseeing confidential OEI Case Ledger, Google forms, to include creation and
assigning of EEO case numbers, and maintain secured file room housing medical
data.
· Position assists with compilation and investigation
of formal internal/external complaints in accordance with SPP Title 5, Code of
Maryland Regulations (COMAR), State Government Article Title 20, Title VII of
the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and other applicable federal and state statues,
regulations and policies governing equal opportunity and access in employment.
In addition, on behalf of the Department and in conjunction with OEI directors
may respond to information requests from the Maryland Commission on Civil Right
(MCCR) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
· Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience using MS Office Suite, Google Drive, and other software.
2.
Experience working independently, the ability to multitask
projects, and managing time-sensitive information.
3.
Experience exercising discretion and handling confidential
information.

SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet the minimum
qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide

QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one
year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager

EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination
will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to
the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications
supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all
experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants may be
given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background
investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
