OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH COMPLIANCE OFFICER SUPERVISOR

Introduction

Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for all MOSH safety consultants and administrative responsibilities relating to consultation services promotion and timely closure of field activities. Supervisory activities include, but are not limited to, assigning field visits, reviewing written reports, and evaluating and coaching safety consultants on job quality and efficiency. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing hazard correction follow-up, promotional campaigns, overseeing unit customer satisfaction surveys, and data error reduction and correction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience in the inspection of work places to ensure compliance and initiate enforcement of state and federal occupational safety and health laws, regulations and standards

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in the interpretation and application of fire, health or safety regulations and the preparation of narrative reports documenting factual findings of inspections or investigations on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours to include 12 credit hours in construction, engineering, fire, manufacturing or occupational safety and health technologies for one year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non- commissioned officer in General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement and Compliance classifications or General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement and Compliance specialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience 

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

At least six months field experience performing consultation site visits.

At least six months experience working as a lead worker and/or in a supervisory capacity.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Experience reviewing MOSH Consultation surveys for accuracy and proper documentation.
Experience training and/or mentoring subordinates
Experience conducting on-the-job (OJE’s).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to Labor/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.


1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and therefore, will be required to provide the employing agency with a phone number where they can be reached.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
