Annual Salary Range: $78,479 - $102,703 (with progression to $126,912)

Note: All MSDE positions require in-person/on-site reporting.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for providing Mathematics assessment leadership in the development of the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program which aligns to the Mathematics MD College and Career- Ready Standards. This position collaborates with the curriculum staff to provide resources and professional development opportunities that improves educator’s understanding of the standards and assessments.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides project management including schedule coordination, conducting training workshops, monitoring state test deliverables and assessment delivery systems; develops a variety of assessment items according to standards frameworks; develops and refines item specification documents; assists with the development of assessment guides, brochures, and sample question packets; provides leadership and technical assistance in the implementation of the assessments for the MCAP; collaborates in the development and delivery of online and face-to-face trainings to Local Accountability Coordinators, Special Placement Schools, and School Test Coordinators and other designated educational stakeholders at the local, state and national levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION:  Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate credit hours from an accredited college or university.  Educator Certification in Mathematics preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of administrative, teaching, or other professional work experience in or affiliated with an education program; experience including two years coordinating or administering an education program or services directly related to the position.

NOTES:

  1. Two additional years of experience directly related to the position option may be substituted for the required master’s degree.
  2. Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position may be substituted for one year of the required experience. 
  3.  The required field of education and experience are unique for each option and are established by MSDE in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104 of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The specific education and experience qualifications for each position are on record in the Human Resource Management Branch of the Division of Business Services of the Department of Education.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Education Program classifications or specialty codes in the Education field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One-year supervisory experience in an elementary/middle school environment with substantial Mathematics responsibilities

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of educational assessment programs; knowledge of online educational assessment; skill in providing technical guidance to internal and external teams; skill in managing multiple timelines and deadlines simultaneously; skills using computer technology; ability to maintain day to day knowledge of all plans, activities, and status of projects and issues; ability to analyze complex program issues and to recommend solutions; ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external teams; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and possible travel throughout the State are required.  Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.
