POSITION DUTIES
The main
purpose of this position is to perform independent administrative duties
required to support the Division of Educator Effectiveness (DEE) pertaining to
the suspension and revocation of educator credentials. The individual will be
responsible for providing outstanding customer service to a diverse and
extensive number of internal and external callers concerning the status of
educator licensure suspension and revocation activities.
The
individual will also be responsible for providing administrative support for
implementing the provisions of Md. Code, Educ. §6-113.2, specifically around
the tracking, monitoring, and investigating reports of employer non-compliance
related to §6-113.2 by assisting public and nonpublic schools and contracting
agencies.
Position
Responsibilities:
- Independently provides oversight for all licensure denial, suspension and revocation activities
- Determine appropriate course of action based on suspension and revocation requests
- Data
entry into the Educator Application and Credentialing Hub
(TEACH)
- Monthly checks and downloads from the NASDTEC clearing house and Sex Registry databases
- Handle Public Information Act requests pertaining to licensure
- Preparation of all written correspondence for all licensure suspension and revocation decisions
- Handling of incoming calls and technical assistance
- Monitoring and responding to employer investigative reports
- Drafting correspondences regarding investigative reports
- Providing a diverse and extensive number of internal and external callers with complex information based on a thorough knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to educator licensure and suspension or revocation of certificates
- Assures all legal and procedural timeline requirements are met
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or
possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1.
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or
university for one year of the required experience.
2.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college
or university for the required experience.
3.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a
commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of
independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex
administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational
programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year
basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to multi-task with strong organizational or project management skills
- Knowledge of the practices associated with credentialing and licensure
- Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain the relevant statutes, regulations, and policies associated with educator certification disciplinary action
- Knowledge of the processes associated with hearings at the Office of Administrative Hearings
- Experience drafting correspondence for constituent inquiries
- Data management experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
