6/3/13 NOTE:  THIS RECRUITMENT IS RE-OPENING TO FILL A MOSQUITO CONTROL NIGHTTIME SPRAY TECHNICIAN POSITION TO WORK OUT OF OUR COLLEGE PARK FIELD OFFICE, AT $11.00 PER HOUR.  DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED.    WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK NIGHTS.

Main Purpose of Job

Seasonal Employees needed to assist with surveillance and control of mosquito populations in Maryland. Work involves: handling, mixing & applying pesticides; mosquito collection; field inspection; mosquito surveillance; and/or supervision.

THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE OPEN UNTIL ALL JOBS ARE FILLED FOR THE 2013 SEASON.

POSITION DUTIES

Contractual Employment, workers will be paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, no fringe benefits.

Mosquito Control Assistants - $10.00 base to $12.00 per hour

Mosquito Control Technicians - $11.00 base to $13.50 per hour

Mosquito Control Supervisors - $12.00 base to $14.50 per hour

(Increments above base awarded for experience/education)

Seasonal workers needed to assist with surveillance and control of mosquito populations in Maryland.  Duties may include: handling, mixing & applying pesticides; mosquito collection; field inspections; mosquito surveillance; and/or supervision.

Work may involve contact with the public, exposure to biting/stinging insects, ticks, poison ivy, pesticides, and extensive walking in suburban, wooded and wetland areas.

Employees may be required to wear protective equipment.

Some shifts involve working evening hours and early morning hours.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Age:  16 for Assistants, 18 for Technicians and Supervisors

High School Diploma/GED required for Technicians & Supervisors

Driver's License valid in Maryland required for Technicians and Supervisors, with no more than 5 points on driving record.

No experience necessary for Assistants and Technicians, on-the-job training will be provided.

Supervisors must have a minimum of 3 months experience performing mosquito control work or other pesticide/pest control work.
