Introduction

The Treasury Management Division of the Maryland State Treasurer's Office is comprised of Banking Services and Investment Services.  This Deputy position is housed in the Investment Division unit managing the day-to-day operations of State Investment services.  The State Treasurer's Office is seeking an ambitious individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills to forge relationships with other municipal investment divisions and pioneer automation in all areas of investment and cash management.

Main Purpose of Job

This position acts to directly support the Director in carrying out the division's mission and is responsible for assisting the Director in administering and enforcing policies and procedures related to the operations of Investment Services. The incumbent manages all activities of Investments and performs all tasks related to the management of Statewide Investment processes. In the absence of the Director, assumes all responsibilities and signatory authorities of the Director in the area of Investments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of an applicable Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Ideal Candidate Should Have:

  • Comprehensive experience in Fixed Income Investments
  • 3 years of  experience in Government or non-profit  investing or cash management
  • At least one year of experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Note:  Applicants may substitute graduate level education in an applicable academic field from an accredited college or university at the rate of one year of education for one year of experience.

Candidates must be willing to work in Annapolis

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates selected for interview may be required to submit a professional writing sample. All candidates will be subject to a background investigation including licensure, criminal and credit history.

 

This is a Management Service position which serves at the pleasure of the Maryland State Treasurer and her designated appointees.
