LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
Directs and trains other OSHCOs in the recognition and documentation of hazards, the application of laws, regulations and standards to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses using on-the-job training in accordance with the FOM.
Prepares and files written and oral reports of inspections and training activities in a logical, concise and effective format to document compliance activities in accordance with Agency policy.
Supports the Regional Supervisor in the conduct of regional administration by conducting informal conferences and case file reviews to support Agency goals in accordance with MOSH policies and procedures.
Manages regional operations in the absence of the Regional Supervisor in accordance with MOSH policies and procedures.
Provides technical support to the public to enhance understanding of workplace hazards in accordance with the FOM.
Performs other duties as assigned by management, including but not limited to, duty officer, performing or attending in-house and/or outside training activities.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in industrial hygiene, physical science or life science which includes twelve credit semester credit hours in chemistry and eighteen additional semester credit hours in any combination of the following: chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology or industrial hygiene.
Experience: Three years of experience inspecting, researching and analyzing chemical and physical workplace hazards affecting employee health in order to control or eliminate hazards and to ensure compliance with federal and State occupational safety and health laws, regulations and standards.
1. Additional experience inspecting, researching and analyzing chemical and physical workplace hazards affecting employee health may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. A Master’s degree in industrial hygiene may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement and Compliance classifications or General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement and Compliance specialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

U.S. Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification.
