Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Develops and conducts on-site educational programs based on requests from school groups and the general public.
Schedules and coordinates educational and public programs. Interacts with the public on a daily basis.
Develops and conducts outreach programs during the off-season (Nov-March). Travels to schools and presents programs in classroom settings.
Works with the Director of Education to order, inventory, and properly store supplies necessary to carry out educational programs and workshop.
Reviews flyers and brochures for JPPM educational programs on a regular basis and works with Education and other JPPM staff to make revisions as needed.
Takes part in the hiring process for seasonal positions(s) and works with supervisor to train and supervise the person who fills this position. Oversees volunteers as needed.
Maintains the trunks for the Traveling Trunk program. Schedules trunk rentals and facilitates sales of trunks to various organizations.
Carries out administrative duties and personnel activities at the direction of Director of Educ., and/or JPPM Director.
Collects fees for school groups and/or prearranged tours and insures that fees are processed in a timely fashion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: One year teaching (K-12), museum education, environmental education, or other related experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Masters degree in a related field.
Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Outdoor Environmental Education, History, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation, Anthropology/Archaeology, Natural Sciences (Biology, Geology, Ecology) or related field.
Experience in developing teaching curriculum.
