Introduction
The Workers’ Compensation Commission is actively recruiting for an Administrative Specialist II. The main purpose of this job function is to coordinate the case management of appeals for the State of Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, interpret and process court orders and judicial review documents in accordance with COMAR 14.09.11.1.

POSITION DUTIES
The State of Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission is currently seeking an energetic, detail oriented, self-starter who possesses the ability to review, research and interpret judicial actions on court orders. The incumbent of this position shall prioritize, interpret and process appeals correspondence from 24 jurisdictions in accordance with COMAR 14.09.11.01. This position requires strong analytical, research and customer service skills and is responsible for providing information to the Workers’ Compensation Community with regards to administrative procedures and the judicial process in accordance with MD Rule 7-206.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.
2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. One (1) year of experience using the following computer software: Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook; and Internet Explorer is preferred
2. One (1) year of experience dealing with customers/public in the following manners: telephone, e-mail, written correspondence and face to face contact is preferred
3. One (1) year of professional work experience in a regulatory or court environment is preferred.
