Main Purpose of Job

The Environmental Health Specialist Program Supervisor will supervise, administer, coordinate the Environmental Water Quality program to ensure the State and County codes are applied to maintain public health and the quality of the environment. This involves providing guidance, interpretation, and implementation of environmental control methods and objectives to staff, local government officials, business community, and general public.  This position wil coordinate and manage the daily operation of the Transient Non Community Water Systems program, develop and maintain databases, prepare quarterly reports to MDE, supervise staff assigned to Well permit program, Environmental Review Program, and COO and COP programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists under the licensing requirements for Environmental Health Specialists.

Experience: Three years of experience performing inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations, including one year in a supervisory capacity.

Notes: 

1. A Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.

 

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is internal and limited to current Harford County Health Department employees.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.  "Please attached a current copy of your licensure wth your application."

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
