Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to perform entry level work cordinating the local health improvement coalition planning program. This position conducts studies and implements program activities for the county-wide local health improvement coalition along with community health assessment and health planning. This position receives moderate supervision from the higher level administrator following a period of training and orientation where the incumbent will assist in conducting activities related to the community health assessment, health planning for improving priority health outcomes, utilization of existing community resources and development of new community action that would improve health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

NOTE:

1.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have experience with Local Health Improvement Coalitions (LHIC).

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
