Main Purpose of Job
A Work Adjustment Coordinator is the full performance level of work in developing, implementation and monitoring of work placement, work training and work adjustment programs for mentally ill patients or developmentally disabled clients within a pre-vocational development program at a residential or inpatient facility or community based program. This plans, develops, implements and monitors work training and work adjustment programs for mentally ill patients at Springfield Hospital Center within the Horticulture Program. This position will act as a Horticulture Coordinator which requires familiarity with horticulture principles and practices, specially including the operation and maintenance of a greenhouse.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree with a major in health services, human services, education or the behavioral sciences.
Experience: One year of experience providing work placement, work training, and work adjustment services to mentally ill patients or developmentally disabled clients in a pre-vocational development program.
Note: 1. Additional experience as specified above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Career Counseling and Advisor classifications or Career Counseling and Advisor specialty codes in the Counseling field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
The position will act as a Horticulture Coordinator which requires familiarity with horticulture principles and practices, specially including the operation and maintenance of a green house.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
2. Employees in some positions may be required to operate vehicles which require a Class C motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The appropriate motor vehicle operator’s license will be required.
3. Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in and, therefore, may be required to provide the facility with a phone number where they can be reached.
