Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to coordinate alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse prevention services as a member of the Prevention Services Unit for the Worcester County Health Department. Such duties may include assessing, developing, implementing, and/or evaluating Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) services (to include grant and budget management) as well as supervising staff in the After School and/or AOD prevention programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, with thirty (30) credits in behavioral science, health services, human services, or education. ***Please be sure a copy of your official/unofficial transcript(s) are submitted with your completed application.***

Experience: Three years of experience managing or directing alcohol and other drug prevention services in a community and/or school setting.

Notes:

1. Sixty credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in the behavioral sciences, health services, human services or education and an additional two years of experience as specified above may be substituted for the education requirement.***Please be sure a copy of your official/unofficial transcript(s) are submitted with your completed application.***

2. Additional experience as specified above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

3. Graduate level education in behavioral sciences, health services, human services, or education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Drug and Alcohol Counseling or Health Care Administration classifications or Mental/Behavioral Health and Drug and Alcohol Counseling or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position will possess experience working with grants and/or budget management.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
