Main Purpose of Job

This position will provide clinical psychiatric services to adult patients provided at Frederick County Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.  This position performs face-to-face diagnostic and/or medication evaluations of patients presenting for clinic services.  This position meets with patients on a regular basis for medication management and/or psychotherapy. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board. Candidates must be board-certified in Psychiatry.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications or Nursing or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be board-certified in Psychiatry.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.  Candidates must be board-certified in Psychiatry. 

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license or license verification must be attached to the application. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
