LOCATION OF POSITION

This position will operate primarily out of the Division’s office in Baltimore City, Maryland with frequent travel to offices in Lanham, Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

The Division of Neighborhood Revitalization seeks a positive individual experienced with community development, financial management and loan or grant administration to serve as the Assistant Director for Homelessness Initiatives.  This position assists with the management of grants, projects, and services to local governments and nonprofit organizations; ensures compliance with regulations, policy, laws, and standards to achieve neighborhood revitalization and a significant reduction in homelessness.  This position also assists with research and policy development in the areas of homelessness and assistance to vulnerable populations and helps support work of the Maryland Interagency Council on Homelessness. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Six years of administrative or professional experience to include three years of financing experience or providing technical assistance for development or rehabilitation of multifamily or single family housing; neighborhood revitalization and business development; community infrastructure development; historic preservation programs or human services programs.  

Notes:

1. Additional administrative or professional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.  

2. Additional job-related education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience.  

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in business and industry classification or business and industry specialty codes in the housing management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least one-year professional experience working with government grants programs

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Two years professional experience with homelessness programs
