Introduction

Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum is recruiting for two fulltime CONTRACTUAL positions to work for eleven (11) weeks starting May 31, 2017.  The work week may be up to 40 hours and days will vary.  Some weekends will be required.

We need creative, enthusiastic and organized individuals committed to providing outdoor education experiences to our many visitors who come for summer camp and other events throughout the summer.

Main Purpose of Job

Candidate will work directly with the public and summer camp staff facilitating hands-on educational programming.

Will assist with the development of camp program activities, serve as interpretative staff at the Woodland Indian Village, Visitor Center, and Exhibit Barn, assist with Indian Village and Garden maintenance.

Will participate in other special events sponsored by Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum.  The ability to work independently as well as with a team of museum personnel and volunteers is essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School Diploma or GED

(Those graduating High School May 2017 will be considered with written verification of graduating status from their High School).

Experience In:  Working with youth, such as at summer camps, teacher or teachers’ assistant K-12, museum educational staff or volunteers and/or working in other related youth and public programs.

Developing lesson plans or creative projects.

Public Speaking (presentations, debate sessions, theater etc.)

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience working outside in gardens and or on trails.

Experience doing light construction.
