Main Purpose of Job

The Assistant Superintendent functions as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is responsible for the organization in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The COO will direct the Programs and Facility Operations to include:  Maintenance, Police, Human Resources, Fiscal, Procurement, Quality Improvement and Program Directors.  This position will also be responsible for all program planning, organizing, operating and staffing.  The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the program aspect of the annual budget in conjunction with the Fiscal Specialist.  The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that all services are in compliance with all Federal, State, and Licensing requirements. The COO will also assist the CEO in planning, organizing and implementing a Strategic Plan that aligns with the Mission, Vision, and policies of the Developmental Disabilities Administration & the Maryland Department of Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Health, Human Services or Management Field and have 5 years of professional experience, including 2 years of a managerial or supervisory level. 

A related Masters Degree will substitute for one year of general experience.  Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
