Main Purpose of Job
A Beauty Operator is the full performance level of work in beauty care for patients in a State hospital, in the Maryland Department of Health. This position provides professional cosmetology and barber services to the patients of Eastern Shore Hospital Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Determined by the licensing requirements set by the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists, Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Applicants must possess a current Operator's license as issued by the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists. Applicants must present evidence of current certification with the application. A copy of your license must be attached to the application.
2. Certification by the above board will be required before an application may be given permanent position. However, applicants who are eligible for certification will be admitted to the State examination if evidence of eligibility is presented with the application.
3. Applicants must maintain licensure with the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists. Employees in this classification who do not currently possess the necessary Operator's license will be subject to removal from the position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment is extended, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
