LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH/Spring Grove Hospital Center, Maintenance Department, Catonsville, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide supervision and overall building maintenance management for hospital and tenant occupied buildings located on the campus of Spring Grove Hospital Center (SGHC). This position is also responsible for the indirect supervision and management of the garage and a fleet of State vehicles assigned to the Fleet Manager and directly responsible for the Grounds Services department. This position will be indirectly responsible for mail delivery and pick up from and to our patient areas and other municipalities located on the grounds of SGHC. This position will also supervise the work order systems and office staff and be responsible for providing a safe/secure Key/Lockshop. This position will receive general supervision from the Administrator III and/or Assistant Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a State high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years experience in commercial or governmental building management and operations, maintenance administration, or leasehold administration. The above experience must have included experience in budget preparation, contract formulation and administration and tenant relations.

Note: Applicants may substitute education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. The nature of this position may require that the employee be able to drive an automobile. Therefore, a valid Maryland driver’s license may be required before appointment to the position.

2. The nature of this position requires that the individual be available for emergency overtime on a 24-hour, 7-day per week basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.
