LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Division of Cost Accounting & Reimbursements, Catonsville, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
This position will conduct investigations for maximum reimbursement of hospital costs for admissions to facilities associated with the Financial Agents' Office located at the Spring Grove Hospital Center with travel to other Financial Agent locations on an as-needed basis. This position will also investigate for eligibility and certify qualified applicants into the Maryland Medical Assistance Program.
In addition, this position will complete all required forms and reports associated with the investigations, as well as set rates, in accordance with COMAR regulations and Title XVI of the Health & General Articles of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
Finally, this position will follow State of Maryland procedures involving rate appeals and the reference of delinquent balances for abatement consideration or collections.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None.
Note: Experience in health care financing work, on the life/health insurance fields, in the investigation and/or adjustment of claims may be substituted at the rate of one year for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess experience in one or more of the following skills: financing/billing; claims adjustment; retirement; taxes; estate planning; insurance, or risk management.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland, and to have access to a vehicle for daily use.
