MDH/Worcester County Health Department (All Sites), Prevention Services Unit, Snow Hill, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position will be to assist in the coordination of the Cigarette Restitution Fund (CRF) Tobacco program and Chronic Disease health education component of the Prevention Department. The duties of this position include planning, promoting, implementation and evaluation of the programs as outlined by the CRF Tobacco grant, in addition to general health education which may occur from community input or additional chronic disease grants. This position must be able to work and travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department. This position may also be subject to working weekends and/or evening hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.

Experience: One year of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects.

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science or related behavioral science and two years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects for the required education and experience. ***A copy of your official or unoficial transcript(s) should accompany your completed application.***

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
