LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Carroll County Health Department, Community Health Education Unit, Westminster, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
This position will increase public health awareness and understanding within multiple program areas, including 'Injury Prevention,' 'Safe Kids,' 'Child Passenger Safety,' 'Highway Safety,' 'Chronic Disease,' and 'Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County.' This position will also plan, develop and implement appropriate public health projects for these populations through obtaining and utilizing health-related data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.
Experience: One year of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science, or a related behavioral science, and two years of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects, for the required education and experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications, or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes, in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis, for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have training in child passenger safety and experience in prevention programming. He/she should also be able to conduct car seat checks and perform the skills needed to work with parents and caregivers on installing a car seat for their child.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
