Introduction

The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR), Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Unemployment Insurance Claim Center Specialist II to build an applicant pool. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications during the time apply. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.

Adjudicate potentially disqualifying unemployment insurance (UI) issues in accordance with established quidelines to provide high quality customer focused services that regulate the distribution of unemployment insurance benefits to support the economic stability of the stat

POSITION DUTIES

Conducting fact-tinting interviews with claimants, employers and other interested parties to gather information. Investigating, analyzing and evaluating information in order to make determiniations regarding contested unemployment insurance claims. Weigh facts, evaluate the credibility the evidence presents, then make a written determination that is both legally correct and in a manner that provides sufficient evidentiary summary and legal conclusion in order for both the claimant and employer to understand its content and outcome. Explain and interpret laws, policies, precendents, rules and regulations, unemployment disqualifications and eligibility.Work is performed in a call center within the Division of Unemployment (DUI). Candidate must work a heavy caseload with exacting time lapse and deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience adjudicating unemployment insurance separation and non-separation issues; or gathering information used to render determinations related to unemployment insurance contributions.

Note: 1.  Four years of general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Human Resources Management classifications or Human Resources Management specialty codes in the unemployment insurance claims or contributions field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Must have 2 years adjudication experience in a UI Claim or Adjudication Center

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

Any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing a U.S. Military form DD 214 verifying honorable discharge from service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview). Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of Veterans’ status.
