Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for support to the disability claims process through the timely and accurate processing of requests for consultative examinations (CE), scheduling appointments through direct contact with CE providers, generating notices and conducting follow ups regarding status of appointments.

POSITION DUTIES

Independently manage the CE scheduling process designated specialty areas, manage block time arrangements in accordance with established procedures for control of scheduling CE's with block providers, coordinate CE appointment follow up process, manage the foreign language and sign language interpreter scheduling process, maintain up-to-date CE provider file and scheduling instructions, provide support to the MRO & CE oversight activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes: 

  1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Individuals selected for positions with the Maryland State Department of Education's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete Tier 2 federal background investigation.  A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.
