LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Frederick County Health Department, Frederick, MD
Main Purpose of Job
This position will provide counseling services to persons assessed as having alcohol and/or drug addiction or abuse and their families. This position is located in a local detention center facility.
Education: A Master’s or Doctoral degree in a health or human services counseling field from an accredited college or university approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists or completion of a program of studies judged by the Board to be substantially equivalent in subject matter and training. A copy of your transcripts (official or unofficial should accompany your application.)
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must apply for and receive a letter of authorization to practice as a trainee from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists within 90 days of their date of hire.
2. Employees must successfully obtain certification or licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as either a Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug or a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor within one year of meeting the experience requirements for Certified Professional Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
