Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Natural Resources, Licensing & Registration Service. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Licensing & Registration Service, is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Specialist I. The primary purpose of the position is to plan, coordinate, direct and monitor multiple complex procurements, maintain supplies and equipment inventories and maintain related records and reports. The selected candidate will also assist the Fiscal Officer with balancing financial transactions, and posting of credits and debits to establish ledger accounts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Notes:  

1. Candidates may substitute one year of experience in administrative or professional work for the required education, at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies  on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualifications; please include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualifications.

  • Experience with the principals and practices of bookkeeping and basic accounting
  • Procurement experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
