Main Purpose of Job

This position provides administrative support to MSAC management and programmatic support for the Community Arts Development (CAD) and Arts and Entertainment District (A&E) programs.

POSITION DUTIES

Administrative support will include maintaining frequent contact with executives and professional staff in both public and private sector, as well as with the Maryland arts community. The incumbent will review and answer correspondence, track the handling of priority issues; prepare documents in final form following guidelines provided by the Office of the Secretary or Deputy Secretary and Governor's office; coordinate travel and prepare expense reports; calendar management, arranging and maintaining schedule of appointments; and may conducts research.  This position also has programmatic responsibilities for MSAC’s CAD and A&E programs. This position will coordinates communication between Arts and Entertainment leadership and MSAC leadership and CAD grantees and MSAC leadership; research, identify, maintain, and disseminate a listing of current resources applicable to the work of CAD grantees and A&E Districts; manage both the A&E program and the CAD grant program application process, preparing materials for management and panel review; review program reporting and prepare for management review; work with management to create workshops for CAD grantees and A & E leadership; and collect and compile CAD grantee events information and A&E events information for Council and staff.  

 

The selected employee will possess excellent interpersonal skills to work with high level public and private sector officials and maintain effective working relationships; an aptitude for detailed work; excellent written and oral communication skills; have the ability to work independently; handle multiple, concurrent, and high priority projects; compose routine and complex business correspondence; maintain confidentiality of records, prepare reports, and other materials and possess proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite for Windows including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, Google Mail and/or other relevant software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
