Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this job is to support the Maryland Military Department Installations Division specifically the Edgewood Enclave. The Edgewood Enclave is a unique area that supports the Maryland Army National Guard it is comprised of many facilities to include armories, Army Aviation Support Facility, Field Maintenance Shop, Combined Support Maintenance Shop, Lauderick Creek Training Area, and several other buildings located on the Havre de Grace Military Reservation and Aberdeen Proving Grounds (South). The incumbent will be part of the Edgewood Enclave Installations Maintenance Team providing building maintenance support to all customers. Building maintenance includes but is not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, grounds maintenance, equipment maintenance, snow removal and door repairs.

POSITION DUTIES

Maintains and repairs all structures/buildings/facilities/road and grounds that are located on the HDGMR.

Troubleshoots all infrastructure systems to determine faults.

Performs and supervises preventative maintenance of all facility related systems.

Repairs/replaces faulty indoor & outdoor plumbing fixtures.

Repairs/replaces faulty lighting, lighting fixtures and ballasts.

Cuts grass, trees, shrubs and bushes.

Uses and maintains all equipment to include tractors, rotary cutters, zero turn mowers, push mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf vacuum, grass trimmers, backhoe, trucks and salt spreaders.

Supervises assigned state personnel.

Manages employee's time and attendance through Workday.

Coordinates all compensation time request.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Two years experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including one year of responsibility for assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers and must list the license number and date on the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
