Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position will be to monitor the Energy Management system, which is a computer-based program that is tied to the heating and ventilation equipment. This position will record the operating environment and log into the computer the readings from the boilers, pumps, fans, chillers, air handlers, and emergency generator. This position will also be responsible for documenting all repairs and/or replacement operations that are performed on the facilities and recording the data into the computer. Additionally, this position will be responsible for performing the full range of journeyman level duties associated with the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair and troubleshooting of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures and controls located within the facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Five years experience in the building maintenence or building construction trades including four years of responsibility for assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position should possess experience monitoring and/or operating a Siemens Energy Management System (EMS).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers and must list the license number and date on the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
