Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to process licensure applications, verifications, and issuance of licensure by endorsement for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses. This position independently evaluates licensure qualifications, determines eligibility for licensure by endorsement and processes license verification of licensure data associated with the licensure by endorsement activity is carried out in an efficient, accurate timely manner. Lastly, this position will analyze licensure data to ensure nurses are in compliance with the Multi-State Licensure Compact Rules, notifies nurses of failed licensure audits and discrepancies, corrects licensure information and make changes in licensure database and the NCSBN licensure database (NURSYS).
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate should have the following:
- Two or more years of administrative and customer service experience.
- Ability to interpret and apply operational rules, regulations, policies and procedures and make decisions.
- The ability to detect and reconcile discrepancies in records and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Experience using various computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
