LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Office of Human Resources, Administration Unit, Baltimore, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide professional HR work in the administration of employee leave, including Leave Bank, Employee to Employee Leave Donations, Accident Leave, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests, and referrals to the State Medical Director. This position is responsible for reviewing and/or maintaining the Maryland Department of Health's (MDH) leave policies/procedures and for making determinations and/or recommendations to grant or deny certain leave types for MDH employees. Responsibilities of this position may also include the interpretation of State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies for MDH employees to follow.
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education. ***A copy of your official or unofficial transcript(s) should accompany your completed application.***
2. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.***A copy of your official or unofficial transcript(s) should accompany your completed application.***
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate for this recruitment will possess:
previous experience working with Workday
working knowledge of and/or professional experience with State (or Public sector) HR policies/procedures of and/or relating to medical leave/absences
strong organizational skills
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
