Main Purpose of Job

The Administrator I-Regional Training Administrator-Metro Region has responsibility for the design, planning, delivery and coordination of In-Service Training for the Metro Region. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the daily training operation is delivered in a professional and competent manner including the maintenance of the Region's training records. This is achieved through cooperation and coordination with the leadership of the Region, Professional Training & Education Unit (PTEU), PTEU training staff, adjunct instructors and contractor/vendors.

POSITION DUTIES

The Administrator I-Regional Training Administrator will design, plan and deliver training programs and or learning opportunities for DJS staff in the Metro Region.  The position also will ensure that training meets the regulations, goals and/or objectives established by COMAR, the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) and/or the MD Department of Juvenile Services.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Possession of a current Instructor Certification from the Maryland Police Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC)

• At least one year of experience training adults in the Public Safety/Criminal Justice work environment is highly desirable.(If you possess a current Instructor Certificate from MPCTC, please upload a copy with your application.)

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to current MD Department of Juvenile Service Employees.  You must be a current Maryland Department of Juvenile Services employee.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the Minimum and Selective Qualifications will be placed on the eligible list categorized as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified. Candidates shall be certified to the eligible list for a year.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
