Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to analyze data sets, prepare BCDSS recurring reports, and develop procedures to increase the quality of those reports. This position will be responsible for compiling, managing, and cleaning operational and administrative data sets. This position will work also with Office of Innovation staff to monitor reports and with program staff to reconcile data and to document business rules.

POSITION DUTIES

Data collection management, and cleaning collects, structures, and cleans data from operational and administrative datasets in preparation for analysis.

Identifies data errors and inconsistencies and works with program staff to reconcile those issues.

Data analysis and reporting analyzes data to prepare recurring reports and improves those reports to ensure that they are clear and actionable.

Assists supervisor in reviewing historical data to identify trends and prepares memos, reports, and/or presentations to report findings.

Procedures development and documentation reviews historical data to identify issues with data quality and, with guidance from the supervisor, collaborates with program staff to develop procedures to address those issues.

Works with program staff to document business rules in order to assist supervisor with report automation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualifications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

1. One year of experience using computer software such as Excel, Google Sheets, Microsoft Access, R, Tableau, or SPSS.

2. One year of experience preparing reports for higher-level managers. 

3. A Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics  or a similar field of study.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
