LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH/Behavioral Health Administration, Catonsvile, Maryland
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide oversight and/or coordination for the Maryland Department of Health's (MDH) shared services initiative for the facilities maintenance and plant management departments. This position will be responsible for administering the shared services initiative for shared contractual services, shared utilities purchasing, standardization of service and maintenance operations, bulk purchasing, and oversight of facility maintenance and patient environment improvement initiatives in support of MDH patient support goals. This position will also work with MDH facility maintenance and plant management departments to identify in-house maintenance services expertise and coordinates the sharing of MDH facility maintenance department services between facilities. This position is also responsible for reviewing facility equipment maintenance schedules and compiling facility maintenance records for use in improving maintenance operations. This position will serve as an agent for improved communication between MDH facilities and will work to facilitate MDH initiatives. Lastly, this position will also work directly with the MDH Office of Capital Planning, Budgeting, and Engineering(OCPBES) in support of MDH facility maintenance and patient environment improvement initiatives.
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate for this position should possess:
experience in the area of facilities/maintenance, engineering, and/or logistics (duties including contract/purchasing related duties and/or responsibility for logistical work of projects involving office, staff and/or patient relocation)
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
