Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide on-going supervision and directs the work of the Lower Shore Health Insurance Assistance Program. This includes the evaluation of consumer applications and staff performance through regularly scheduled conferences for the purposes of determining professional performance and the results accomplished. This position will act as a mentor by providing advice/guidance to lower-level staff. This position will also be responsible for evaluating/reviewing case situations, interventions and case information of staff working with clients, families and/or community providers. Additionally, this position will determine, if a crisis situation exists and if it does, this position will immediately initiate the appropriate intervention techniques. This position may also assist the program coordinator with ongoing monitoring of the program outreach, communications, and marketing campaign, as well as other special projects/reports as assigned. A certification is required to be maintained by the Maryland Health Connection.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Counseling or a related field.

Experience: Two years of professional experience in health services, one year of which must have been professional clinical or administrative work in health or medical services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, or Addictions.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position will possess:

  • previous supervisory experience in providing advice and/or guidance to lower-level staff
  • experience with Lower Shore Health Insurance Assistance programs
