Main Purpose of Job
The Health Systems Team, which resides in the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC), is responsible for a dynamic portfolio of projects that facilitate disease management in health systems, improving health outcomes for Marylanders -- with particular emphasis on diabetes, heart disease, and stroke prevention. This position supports the Program Manager to coordinate, implement, and evaluate the Quality Improvement in Health Systems contracts and the Diabetes Prevention contracts, including direct oversight for health system related activities. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for providing critical programmatic support, including grant management, financial tracking, program reporting, and data request tasks.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.
Experience: Five years of professional experience in health services, two years of which must have been professional clinical or administrative work in health or medical services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions.
1. Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.
2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
The successful candidate must have at least two years of public health management experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate should have a master's degree in public health (or related discipline). The candidate should have experience working with local health departments (or similar government entities) to implement quality improvement activities.
