Main Purpose of Job
Provides journeyman level facility maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, installations and
maintenance throughout the State of Maryland-Military Department Installations. Provides supervision of
other skilled mechanics and leads them in completion of their work assignments. Fills in for the
Maintenance Chief III or Maintenance Supervisor when needed.
POSITION DUTIES
Provides journeyman level troubleshooting, repair, installation and maintenance throughout the State of Maryland Military Department Installations.
Provides supervision of other skilled mechanics and leads them in their completion of their work assignments.
Fills in for the Maintenance Chief III and Maintenance Supervisor when needed.
Estimates time and materials needed for job.
Maintains all tools, equipment and vehicle needed for trade.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of eighth grade.
Experience: Three years experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including two years of responsibility for assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers and must list the license number and date on the application.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
