Main Purpose of Job

The Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP), with an annual operating budget of $1 million is aimed at increasing the number of screenings across the state as colorectal cancer is the 2nd highest cause of cancer death in Maryland. This position provides general planning and direction to develop and facilitate the day-to-day activities and events of the Maryland Colorectal Cancer Control Program. The Program Coordinator develops and implements strategies to increase referrals and completion rates of colorectal cancer screening in Maryland. This position is responsible for coordinating and evaluating evidence-based interventions and supporting strategies to increase colorectal cancer screening rates, focusing on quality improvement processes to reduce structural barriers, and implementing patient and provider reminder systems. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling, or a related field.  A copy of your transcript must be attached to the application.

Experience:  Six years professional experience in health services, three of which must have been in professional clinical or administrative services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions, and three of which must have been at the managerial or supervisory level.

NOTES:

1. Applicants may substitute a master’s or Doctoral degree in a health or human services field for up to two years of the required general experience.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus an additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have 2 years experience in cancer prevention and control; experience managing contracts with partners in health systems, local health departments, and community organizations; and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
