Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Provides services to job seekers to expedite their entry into employment by:
Interviewing job seekers to assess skills and needs using the automated system to complete, review and update customer registration; Conducting orientations for job seekers to provide an overview of available services;
Conducting workshops on resumes, job search techniques, interviewing tops, effective online employment applications and custom workshops to meet job seeker needs. Conducting Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment Program (RESEA) workshops, and Reemployment Opportunity Workshops (ROW);
Identifying potential job matches of job seeker skills with job qualifications;
Referring qualified job seekers to job openings by utilizing the automated system;
Assisting customers by demonstrating the usage of self-service resources in the resource areas;
Developing job openings by making promotional telephone calls to market job seeker skills;
Sharing labor market information with customers to enable informed decisions on labor trends and economic conditions by using appropriate resource materials and automated systems;
Referring job seekers to training and/or supportive services to improve their job readiness by utilizing community, training and educational resources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of experience in the field of workforce development involving conducting interviews with persons seeking employment and providing assistance to employers needing qualified personnel to fill vacancies.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in workforce development taking job orders from employers, conducting job-ready interviews, registering job applicants, verifying job referrals, conducting vocational placements, performing unemployment adjudications, or appraising job applicants for employability may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience at the rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience for up to two years of experience.
3. Active duty military recruiting experience or career counseling experience may be substituted on a year-by-year bases for the required education or experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Workforce Development Programs
1. One (1) year or more experience conducting job search workshops to improve attendees' job search techniques and enhance their employability.
2. One (1) year or more experience in providing and explaining labor market information to customers.
3. One (1) year or more experience in referring job seekers to training and supportive services.
