POSITION DUTIES

The Field Enforcement Division of the Comptroller of Maryland is looking to fill the position of Administrative Officer II.

This position is located within the Administrative Services Section of the Field Enforcement Division. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining databases used by the Division, including, but not limited to: confiscated property inventory, statistical data, enforcement actions, and incident reports. This position acts as the Division's Information Technology (IT) Security Officer for internal and external agency systems, including, but not limited to: CJIS, METERS, NCIC, CapWin, Dashboard, Delta plus. The incumbent will act as the Division's Web Content Advisor and Forms Management Liaison. The incumbent will also assist with daily administrative functions of the division such as answering phones, assisting with filing, preparing reports, and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Specifically Microsoft Access, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Experience with Adobe In-Design
  • Knowledge of Web Design
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience. Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
