Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide individual case management services to participants of the Re-Entry and Recovery Program, before and after release from the Worcester County Detention Center (WCDC). This position will also work to provide referrals and coordinate services for individuals served in the Emergency Department at the Atlantic General Hospital and at WCDC, to assist them in enrolling in behavioral health treatment, obtain housing, recovery services, health insurance, etc. This position will also provide Narcan education and training to those individuals (and their families). This position will also work to assist staff with training and client services, collect and/or assess data for programmatic purposes to ensure quality care for its clients, and to fulfill grant requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university in a human service program. The program must have included either a supervised practicum in providing counseling or other therapeutic services to the mentally ill or at least nine credit hours in psychology, including abnormal psychology. ***A copy of your official or unofficial transcript(s) should accompany your completed application for education verification purposes.***

Experience: Four years of post education experience providing counseling or other therapeutic services to the mentally ill including 100 hours of clinical supervision and 25 hours of inservice training in mental health.

Notes:

1. One year of experience providing counseling or other therapeutic services in a mental health setting under the supervision of a licensed professional staff member or a master’s prepared mental health professional may be substituted for the required practicum or for the 100 hours of clinical supervision and 25 hours of in-service training. Each year of experience may be credited one time toward either the educational or experience requirements.

2. Additional college education in a human service program may be substituted on a 30 credits for one year basis for up to two years of experience.

3. Applicants should list the course titles and credits received in the social and behavioral sciences or human service area on the application (MS100) along with a detailed description of the clinical practicum.

4. Documentation of the required clinical supervision and inservice training in the form of a letter of verification from all supervisors during the training period must be attached to the application form.

5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Mental or Behavioral Health Counseling classifications or Mental or Behavioral Health Nursing and Specialist specialty codes in the Counseling field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
