LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH, Board of Nursing, Baltimore, MD
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to investigate complaints and lead the investigative unit of the Board of Nursing through intake, evaluation, prioritization, and/or assignment to the appropriate investigator. This position will be coordinating over 2500 complaints annually regarding the practice of 330,000 licensees and certificate holders in order to protect the public. The primary areas of responsibility for this position include, but are not limited to: (a) investigating complaints; (b) leading the investigative team.
Experience: Five years of experiences as a Registered Nurse including one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity.
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education.
2. A PhD in Nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate for this position should possess the following:
three years of clinical nursing experience in at least two areas of nursing with demonstrated experience in preparation of detailed and organized chronologies (utilization review, quality assurance, nursing risk management or legal/forensic nursing).
excellent organizational and leadership skills
a graduate degree and/or be multilingual.

1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. ***A copy of your current license should accompany your completed application.***
