LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH, Washington County Health Department, Hagerstown, MD
Main Purpose of Job
This position has the responsibility of assisting customers that are applying for Maryland Medical Assistance through the Maryland Health Connection. This position expedites the eligibility determination by obtaining necessary verifications and completing the system tasks associated with the eligibility process.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.
Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate should possess the following:
- working knowledge of Medicaid in Maryland
- knowledge of other insurance products available
- knowledge of other programs & services available to clients requesting assistance( i.e., Commission On Aging, Dss, Tca, food stamps, Reach, etc.)
- good customer service skills( both in person with clients, and coworkers, and also over the telephone)
- bilingual (Spanish) would be preferred
- experience completing monthly statistical reports & entering info into HBX applications, with attention to detail
