Main Purpose of Job

The position of Deputy Chief Information Officer provides senior level management to the IT managers. The position is responsible for the daily ongoing operation of the Department of Juvenile Services, IT unit that includes all information processing within IT, the successful completion of the information systems projects and integration of new technologies into business operations. Additionally, this position manages the various aspect of data security and departmental policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or  Information systems management or other information technology related field. 

Experience:  Six years of Information Technology experience providing IT project management,  IT vendor management related to agency daily operations, technology implementation, and managing client support services for a large agency, four years of which were at a management or supervisory level.

Notes: 

1.  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and an additional 4years experience providing management and oversight of operational activities across various IT domains including infrastructure management, enterprise architecture, project delivery, application management, client support services and/or information security may be substituted for the required education.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

3.  For education obtained outside the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
