Main Purpose of Job

The mission of Fiscal Services Administration is to provide fiscal support services and oversight to assure accountability, promptness, responsiveness and fairness in the application of MDH or State regulations and policies.  This position is responsible for managing and monitoring General Accounting, Grants and Local Health Accounting, and FMIS Coordination Divisions to ensure efficient operation and responsiveness to departmental needs and mandates. The responsibilities of the units under this directorate include ensuring implementation and support of FMIS functions, preparation of accurate and timely financial information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting, finance or closely related field and six years of experience in budgeting, accounting, auditing or financial analysis, including three years of experience with financial management direction. Qualified candidates must also possess experience with the FMIS system and understanding of FMIS platform.

A related master’s degree or  CPA will substitute for one year of general experience. Additional general experience as above can substitute year for year for the bachelor’s degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidates will possess:

  • licensure as a Certified Public Accountant;
  • Strong Experienced with policy and procedures development;
  • Strong understanding of audit compliance;
  • Federal grant management experience; and,
  • State/Government Financial experience. 

Candidates should also possess strong management skills and strong analytical skills.  Candidates should also be an independent thinker and an expert in trouble shooting and analytical abilities.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
