Main Purpose of Job

The selected candidate for this position will be joining a dynamic team at a Joint Commission accredited organization, where he/she will be working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents and adults, in a work environment that offers flexibility and opportunities for innovative practice in a multi-disciplinary setting. The scope of practice includes: evaluating, assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals to determine necessary psychiatric treatment, including the prescription and monitoring of medications; crisis intervention; and the planning and implementation of treatment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.

Notes: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Medical Corpsman and Physicians classifications, or Nursing, or Physician and Medical Services and Special Corpsman Officer specialty codes in the medicine field of work on a year-for-year basis, for the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates for this recruitment must be Board Certified in Psychiatry. A copy of this certification should be submitted with your completed application.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience providing psychiatric services to all populations, including children/adolescents. He/she should also have strong knowledge of substance abuse/addictions.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing, in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
