Main Purpose of Job

Promote the utilization of prison made products and services to government agencies, institutions, nonprofits charitable, civic educational, fraternal and religious organizations within the geographic boundaries of the State of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

Customer visits (average 3 per day; 60 per month), schedule appointments with purchasing/facility departments, agency administrator, other state officials or allowable customer base deemed appropriate to make procurement decisions.

Utilize all forms of communication to include written correspondences, telephone, solicitations, electronic correspondence (email), in order to maintain contact with existing customer’s base and solicit/generate a pool of prospective clients.

Must provide sales support in the following five categories; Furniture, Graphics, Textiles. Food Processing, Services.

Generate new customers/sales by making a minimum of 5 cold calls/visits per month Analyze sales data of assigned customer base on an annual/monthly basis to determine trends and target areas.

Follow up products deliveries either in person or via telephone to assure satisfaction on a weekly or as needed basis.

Coordinate and give introductory, overview or specific target presentations to existing and new customer base.

Coordinate deliver “Test and Evaluation” productions and obtain client survey’s to share with management. Assist customers with purchase order procedures. (model numbers; finishes, pricing and any other needs required processing a PO accurately on a daily bases)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years of experience in sales promotion, industrial sales or marketing research.

Notes:

1. Equivalent volunteer and/or part-time experience can be substituted for the required experience.

2. Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience at the rate of 60 credit hours.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
