LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH, Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville MD

Main Purpose of Job

The Office Services Clerk will provide full performance telephone switchboard service campus-wide and operate all of the functions of the NEC switchboard. This position will handle a heavy volume of calls, including emergency telephone calls, and assists with 911 calls for service, codes, etc., quickly, in a calm and collected manner. The incumbent reports accurate information and makes proper notification to the appropriate staff and/or external agencies, in a timely manner and provides the agency with professional communication skills at all times. This position is Emergency Essential and works all (3) shifts, as needed, and provides 24/7 services under the general supervision of a higher level operator or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes: 1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the requires experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired applicant will have experience operating a multi-line switchboard system; computer/data entry experience; and, be able to work all three shifts, including weekends and holidays.
