Main Purpose of Job

This primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Emergency Operations Manager for the Maryland Department of Health. This position resides in the Office of Preparedness and Response. This position coordinates Department-wide as well as in partnership with state, local and private agencies using an all hazard emergency response and recovery operations approach in Maryland for Emergency Support Function 8, Health and Medical Services. This position oversees the following programs; Strategic National Stockpile Program (SNS), Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) and the Maryland Professional Volunteer Program (MPVC). Serves as principle point of contact for 24/7 notification of emergency incidents and principle liaison with MDH Physician on call and Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). This position is responsible for ensuring that MDH Emergency Operations are carried out in accordance with NIMS and ICS and are coordinated appropriately with MDH administrations and with ESF 8 response partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree with 6 years of professional health or human service experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidate will possess experience in emergency operations especially related to public health, familiarity with medical counter measures program and experience in National Incident Management Structure (NIMS) and Incident Command Structure (ICS).

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
